The project implemented by Dr Katarzyna Schatt-Babińska is an innovative, creative and interdisciplinary undertaking, which combines scientific methods (qualitative research) with workshop Education Methods.
Goals of the project:
- Providing an anwer to the question: "How do high school students perceive cultural heritage, how do they define it and what do they know about it?"
- Developing workshop scenarios to increase the effectiveness of heritage education
- Conducting workshops in schools in Lodz that will participate in qualitative research
The pilot research will help develop an ideal model of the cultural heritage concept, identify deficits in knowledge regarding heritage protection and at the same time it will show how young people understand the role of heritage and how they define it.
Results of the project:
- An e-book containing a set of lesson plans for heritage education
- Sending the e-book to all high schools in Lodz
Katarzyna Schatt-Babińska holds a PhD degree in Humanities. She is a historian, a winner of the 22nd edition of the competition of the Marshal of the Lodz Voivodeship for the best dissertations and thematic works related to the Lodz Voivodeship. She conducts research on the effectiveness of the monument protection system in the constructivist-interpretive paradigm. She cooperates with the Institute of History of Art of the University of Lodz, where she conducts classes in the field of contemporary architecture and monument protection.
